This project marked the sixth collaboration between McAvoy and NIAS, following five previous successful projects. NIAS once again partnered with McAvoy, trusting the company’s proven capability in delivering fast-track, high-quality modular solutions.

Delivered using McAvoy’s QSpace modular solution, the facility demonstrates how critical ambulance service infrastructure can be rapidly enhanced while minimising disruption to essential services.

Offsite Solution

The scheme was awarded directly via the NHS SBS framework, and McAvoy’s QSpace solution was chosen for its full compliance, speed of delivery and ability to be relocated in the future. 80% of works were completed offsite, reducing the on site programme.

The new two-storey facility provides enhanced welfare accommodation for NIAS staff, including changing rooms, rest areas, meeting rooms, and offices, allowing the staff to maintain comfort and wellbeing while supporting critical operational requirements.

McAvoy managed the full fit-out and additional external works, including a retaining wall and car park EV points, as well as alterations to the existing garage to accommodate a sluice facility, enhancing operational efficiency on site.

Testimonials

A spokesperson from NIAS noted:

“The new station offers a marked increase in size and a much improved working environment for our staff. It is the first dedicated meeting room in the Division, supporting both operational meetings and training delivery.”

Tomas McNicholl, Senior Operations Manager at McAvoy, added:

“We’re delighted to have once again partnered with the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, delivering a high-quality facility for the Strabane Ambulance Station. Through close collaboration from the outset, we ensured the design fully met the operational needs of the station, and we’re proud to have created a sustainable, future-ready facility that will support their vital work for years to come.”
