Summary
McAvoy has successfully completed a 2,247m2 classroom facility at Clonturk Community College. Clonturk Community College is a co-educational post-primary school under the patronage of CDETB with Educate Together as trustee partners. The building was required to address the growing demand for educational places at the College and was designed, manufactured and constructed by McAvoy following a successful tender process. The project requirements were centred on developing capacity for the existing college and to replace the current facility. In order to keep up with current & future demand a solution had to be achieved that allowed for a fast-paced response whilst not compromising on quality of build & design.
An offsite solution was chosen due to the ability to meet the tight programme, and with the majority of works being completed in the factory disruption at the live school site and the surrounding residential area was kept to a minimum. The use of offsite construction also ensured fewer vehicle movements to the site for a safer, quieter and cleaner building project, with careful consideration also given to developing a tailored logistics plan.
McAvoy was responsible for the turnkey solution including all site works, sub structure, service connections, water attenuation system, landscaping, fencing etc.
As the project needed to be completed before the beginning of the new school year, factory processes were meticulously planned and streamlined to give greater transparency and certainty of delivering on time and to budget. The project was successfully handed over and on time despite having to deal with restrictions and uncertainty during the Coronavirus pandemic
